Working on Area
Thursday, September 3, 2015
We continued to work on area today, but using much larger shapes and focusing on avoiding gaps and overlaps. I am so proud of each student for "persevering"! That's our big word from SMP #1. Not only did they have fun learning, but they practiced patience with working with a partner and counting up to large numbers, without losing their place! LOL These pictures show just how awesome they are doing learning Area!

We have had so much fun learning area (CCRSM 3.MD.5)! Students are spending a lot of time working with tiles, aka square units! It is a lot of fun watching them apply what they have been learning!

What a great first day of school! I absolutely loved getting to know my kiddos. We had a busy day, full of routines and expectations, but we managed to squeeze in some All About Me time. I loved sitting at the tables reading their information and talking with them. Their enthusiasm and excitement was contagious. I look forward to a great year, packed full of fun, adventure, and loads of learning!
I forgot to upload my classroom reveal pictures before today, so here they are. I'm super excited how great the room turned out. Enjoy!

I think hope I'm almost done! I have the back part of the room done, tables set up, cubbies organized, and curtains hung. Now I'm waiting on our class list to see if I need to add more tables.
After, almost 2 weeks of hot gluing, hanging, rehanging, and sweating in the warm building, I can say I'm so thrilled with the results. A huge shout out to my colleague, Tonia, for being the ladder queen! I could not have done this without her!
Today is my deadline for completing the rest of the room. I have many things to do and hope that I don't create more work for myself. UGH!!
Enjoy the rest of the summer. School starts soon!

Wow, there are only 26 days until school starts! Where has the summer gone? Most of mine was spent on vacation, but I have been spending some time in my room. It's nowhere near done, but I am happy with the progress so far.
Here's some picture of what I've accomplished so far.
Thank you to the blog, What the Teacher Wants, for this fantastic idea. They came out way cuter than I expected!
Reading Beads are up and ready for readers to earn beads!

I have become obsessed with collecting all of the Who is, Who was, Who were books!!! I started out trying to buy them and then quickly realized that wasn't going to happen. Why? Because there are lots and lots of them!! I already spend so much money on goodies for my classroom, that there is no way I can afford everything (as my husband always reminds me :)) I'm still going to try!! These books are amazing for my kiddos and I've found more and more activities to go along with them. So, if they are good for my kiddos then I have to do my best to collect them!! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! LOL
If you have any of these books and want to donate them to my classroom, I'm always willing to take them. If your child has read them and they are sitting on the shelf collecting dust, feel free to send them my way!! :)
Hint Hint......Barnes and Nobles has them for $5.99 each. Hmmmmmm............
