2017-2018 Classroom Reveal

Thursday, August 17, 2017

I am so excited to get this school year started!  I've completed my classroom and ready for the kiddos to come enjoy learning.  In a little over a week, they will be here and I absolutely cannot wait.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.  I did not change much from last year's room.  I made changes towards the end of last school year.  The kiddos liked it so much, that I decided to keep it all the same.  Enjoy!

Eagles Fun Run

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Last week I sent home information on the Eagles Fun Run and added the information to the classroom Facebook page.  I am attaching it here, as well.  I will also email the information out again!  Parents, we hope to see you all on Friday, enjoying the day with your child.  It's a lot of fun!

End of Year Assessments

Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Good Morning, we will begin our end-of-year district assessments this week. Today-Friday students are taking their District Reading Benchmark Test and then next Tuesday-Thursday they will take their District CCRSM Math Assessment. We will start each assessment at 9:45 and finish by 10:45. It is important for students to be present for all testing days, to maintain their normal testing environment and routine. This will alleviate stress caused by testing in an alternate make-up location, with another teacher.

Purple Up!

Thursday, April 27, 2017

Purple Up! Today was our last Purple Up day for Month of the Military Child 2017. These kiddos are so special and unique. I love everything they represent and having the privilege of being a part of their lives. Military children are extremely resilient and strong. I am so blessed to be a mother and teacher of these amazing kiddos!

STEAM Week Presentation

Thursday, April 20, 2017

You are invited to attend the presentation of STEAM Bridges, next Wednesday, April 26th from 10:00 - 11:30 A.M. We hope to see you there!

Purple Up Day

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

REMINDER: Tomorrow is "Purple Up" day! Students should wear purple to honor their role as a military dependent.

Flat Nassar

This is a reminder that pictures of Flat Nassar are due this week. Students brought home their Flat Nassar folder, on the Thursday before Spring Break. They were to take pictures of themselves with Flat Nassar, during their Spring Break. We will use the pictures and their daily Journal entries to create a presentation, next week. If you have not emailed pictures to me, please do so, as soon as possible. You can also send them through the Remind app, save them to a CD, or attach them to our classroom Facebook page, as a message. Please do not upload them to the page as a post, use the Messenger app to message them to me.

If you have any questions please let me know. So far, I have pictures from 5 students (A.B., C.C., C.S., J.H., and L.P.). If you were not able to take pictures with Flat Nassar, during Spring Break, then take them this week. This project counts as a grade for writing, speaking/listening, and homework.

Flat Nassar 2017

Thursday, April 6, 2017

If you haven't met Flat Nassar yet, then ask your child to introduce you (folders are in backpacks). Students were introduced to Flat Nassar this afternoon. They decorated her and read through all instructions on activities Flat Nassar loves to participate in. I've attached information here, in case, items do not make it home.

The task is for students to spend their Spring Break with Flat Nassar. They should document their daily activities each day with a photo of your child and Flat Nassar together. In addition, students have a journal to record the days activity. Once we return to school AND after STEAM week, students will put together a presentation using their photos and journal entries.

Students can upload their photos to their Google Drive accounts, save them on a CD (no thumb drives), or you can email the photos to my school email. Please do not upload them here on our FB page. Students should have, at least, 1 photo per day along with a journal entry. This activity will count as a reading, writing, and speaking/listening grade.

This should be a fun activity! In the past, Flat Nassar has had exciting Spring Breaks and was even left in a trash can in Hawaii! OOPS! She's read books with her friend, jumped on trampolines, spent a day being lazy in pj's, and traveled to foreign countries. The ideas are endless and exciting to see when we return to school after Spring Break! Have fun!

Autism Walk 2017

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is the Autism Walk. Parents are invited to walk with their child. You can meet the class at the exit doors near our classroom. Once we exit the doors, students will turn left and walk along the back of the school, around to the front, and return back to the exit doors. It's difficult for the whole class to stay together, so students should meet back at the exit doors, after they walk one lap.

I will not be there tomorrow, so once students return to the exit doors, the substitute will conduct a head count. If you want to check your child out, after the walk, please let the substitute know and check them out with the front office.

Hope you can make it!

March Calendar & Newsletter

March's Specials calendar and Newsletter have been uploaded.  Terra Nova week is coming up quickly.  I will send home more information about Terra Nova soon.  Have a great weekend!

Book Tasting

Tuesday, February 21, 2017

We had a fantastic "Book Tasting" today! I promise I did not feed your children books, but we did have Hershey bars for math (that's another story). 😊 This afternoon our classroom became a restaurant and students were invited in to "sample" books. Once they sampled the selections they rated the books on a 1-4 scale (1=must have to a 4=do not want). From there I placed them in book groups. Based on their faces, they had a blast.  I owe a huge thank you, for the idea, to Musings from the Middle School, for this idea!!

Valentine's Party 2017

Monday, February 13, 2017

There is nothing like an elementary Valentines Day party! We had a great time and even managed to attempt a mannequin challenge with Mrs. Cruz's class! Hard to stand still after eating all that delicious sugar!

100th Day of School

Friday, February 10, 2017

Wow! We have had an amazing 100th day. Students began the day with building towers with 100 index cards. The goal was to build a 2 foot, freestanding tower, that would hold a small stuffed animal for 5-10 seconds. It was a challenge that they persevered through.

We ended the day with counting 100 Skittles or M&M's (their choice) and then creating fractions and graphs for the colors. After that, we ate them all up! It's been a great day!
