What a great first day of school! I absolutely loved getting to know my kiddos. We had a busy day, full of routines and expectations, but we managed to squeeze in some All About Me time. I loved sitting at the tables reading their information and talking with them. Their enthusiasm and excitement was contagious. I look forward to a great year, packed full of fun, adventure, and loads of learning! I forgot to upload my classroom reveal pictures before today, so here they are. I'm super excited how great the room turned out. Enjoy!
I think hope I'm almost done! I have the back part of the room done, tables set up, cubbies organized, and curtains hung. Now I'm waiting on our class list to see if I need to add more tables. After, almost 2 weeks of hot gluing, hanging, rehanging, and sweating in the warm building, I can say I'm so thrilled with the results. A huge shout out to my colleague, Tonia, for being the ladder queen! I could not have done this without her! Today is my deadline for completing the rest of the room. I have many things to do and hope that I don't create more work for myself. UGH!! Enjoy the rest of the summer. School starts soon!
Yesterday, Santa's elves arrived to deliver and begin unpacking our new classroom materials and furniture. I popped into the room, after school, and this is what I saw.
So exciting!! The elves spent a large part of the day off loading the 18 wheeler (sleigh), so they were not able to finish unpacking everything yesterday. Because of this, today I am with the students and then tomorrow I will be in the room unpacking all the "presents". Friday, I will be back in our temporary classroom with the students, due to substitute shortage. On Monday, I will have a substitute, so that I can finish putting our classroom back together. Tuesday, the students will return to our regular classroom (D108). I am sure they are going to be as excited about the new things as I am. I cannot wait to see their faces when they see it all! Stay tuned for updated photos, once the classroom is completely put back together!!
Ever wonder what some teachers do during the summer? Well, for me it's relaxing by the pool, catching up on reading, and unfortunately, thinking about my classroom for the next school year. Crazy, huh? Shouldn't teachers be doing all of the above, except for thinking about their classrooms. It's a strange phenomena!! I've decided that it's time to make that 4 hour drive to Charlotte to visit the only Ikea store in North Carolina. I sure wish they would open one in Raleigh. It would make my life much easier, but my wallet much smaller. Hmmm, maybe it's good that it is in Charlotte! Anyway, I've decided I MUST HAVE the following items for my room.
I'm sure I can find a lot more to buy once I'm in the store! Guess I'd better get myself into gear and make that drive.
