End of Year STEAM Challenge

Thursday, June 11, 2015

A big, gigantic Thank you to all the parents who came out today for the final End of Year STEAM Challenge!!  It was a huge success and the kiddos loved it.  I know I told a few parents this, but who knew that a bunch of sponges could excite a class!  LOL  We had baby sisters, brothers, moms, dads, grandparents, and even great grandparents come out to hang out with us.  Stacking sponges on top of a marble sounds pretty easy, until you actually have to do it.  The students and parents learned quickly that it wasn't very easy, but every single team persevered and built amazing towers.  Every team also accepted my challenge to make their towers taller and taller.  The tallest 20 sponge stack came in at 17 3/4 inches and the tallest 40 sponge stack came in at 33"!!!!  Wow!!

Thank you again for coming out and if you were not able to make it, I've added some pictures below!

BEST TEACHER GIFT EVER!!!!!

Sunday, June 7, 2015

I keep seeing Osmo's on Pinterest, so today I decided to see what it was.  I'm sitting here, before church, looking crazy, because I'm super excited about this (my husband is not as excited!  LOL).

Even though I do not have any school owned IPad's, I have been thinking about bringing my IPad to school for my kiddos to use.  With an Osmo, I can do that.  They would absolutely love it and the educational benefits are amazing.  I especially love the Tangram game that comes with it, because we teach Tangrams in Geometry.
Best part, if I buy one, I can gift one to any teacher in the school.  For $79.00, that's not bad.  How awesome that the creators are willing to donate one free one to a school of your choice, just to help teachers out.

What a great gift this would be!!  I better start saving now!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Monday, May 11, 2015

I am a very spoiled teacher!!!  I want to thank each of you for the amazing gifts you gave me last week.  I spent the weekend going through them and writing thank you notes.  Each gift was so thoughtful and sweet.  More than anything, thank you for keeping me health conscious.  My cardiologist greatly appreciates you keeping me healthy!  LOL

Thank you again for everything and for being so thoughtful.

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Don't forget to come out and celebrate your child at tomorrow's (4/30) Family Picnic for the Month of the Military Child from 11:00 to 12:00.  Our kiddos are such brave boys and girls for all they sacrifice every day.  They are also so incredibly blessed with having amazing parents that are willing to serve this incredible country of ours.  I look forward to seeing you tomorrow as we celebrate our amazing kiddos together!

Curriculum Night - April 22, 2015

Friday, April 17, 2015

Well, it's that time of the year again for Curriculum Night.  You should have received an email from Dr. White with information for the evenings activities and static display.  Third Grade is displaying your child's STEAM activities for December (Santa's Sleigh) and January/February (3 Little Pigs Houses).  In addition, parents are encouraged to create a Lego car that is powered by an air filled balloon.  This was your child's STEAM activity this week, so we are challenging you to complete the same task!!  It should be a fantastic evening!  Hope to see you all there.

Terra Nova

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Tomorrow morning, students will begin the Terra Nova test.  They are testing every day next week, so there will not be any homework.  Students will test each morning until around 10:30-11:00 and then after lunch, specials, and recess, they will work on a STEAM project, Leprechaun Traps. So, there will be no formal instruction next week.

Friday, students completed their 3 Little Pigs houses.  They are incredibly cute!  I'll post pictures once testing is over.  We are scheduling time for the Big Bad Wolf to "Huff and Puff", however, we are making him wait until after Terra Nova testing!  LOL

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  Make sure your kiddo gets to bed early tonight and has a hearty, low-sugar, healthy breakfast tomorrow.  I also want to thank all of you for your breakfast and snack donations.  We have a lot of goodies to choose from each day.

Thank you so much, you are all amazing!!

Tuesday, students wear a hat, and Thursday students wear blue and/or red.  It should be a fun week, full of reading, and lots of fun!!

Buuuurrrrrr........

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Good Morning,

I'm sure by now you have all received the One Call about school being closed today.  After reading the Camp Lejeune Facebook page and Comments from residents who travel from all around, it looks like it's not too bad, but could possibly become so later this morning.  As of now, Sneads Ferry is looking pretty good, but crossing the bridge to get onto base may be another story. Enjoy this day off and hopefully we will see your kiddo(s) tomorrow.  Stay warm!
Sorry, I couldn't resist!!
